Welcome to the Shire of Dun Ard!
The Shire of Dun Ard, a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, is located in Leavenworth and Atchison Counties in eastern Kansas. Shire members are historical recreationists who revel in discovering many long-forgotten arts and sciences practiced prior to 1603 AD, including metallurgy, armory, woodworking, weaving, cooking, fighting and more.
We do this, first and foremost, for fun. Shire members are available for demonstrations at local schools, Girl Scout and Boy Scout events, and any other organizations interested in learning more about the Middle Ages and/or the early Renaissance.
If you would like Shire members to demonstrate their skills for your organization, please contact our Seneschal, Christiana Sinclaire.
Meetings are held at 2 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month at the KCKCC Leavenworth Center, 225 Cherokee St., Leavenworth, KS. Please enter through the east-most door off of Cherokee St. and go to room 9. No RSVP required!
Shire meetings are typically cancelled for major holidays and SCA events such as the Lilies War.
Most meetings are followed by Arts and Sciences tutorials and/or crafting time. Please visit our Shire Calendar to find out if the next meeting includes any special activities.
Many members of the Shire of Dun Ard have been awarded honors in the Society. Click here to view the Order of Precedence.
